Please join us on Tuesday, December 12th, at 4:30 PM for drinks, tasty snacks and talk about democracy reforms.
Each month we will invite speakers to join us and present an idea or project that they are working on (20-30 minutes each), and then will have time for facilitated discussion. The focus will always be democracy reform -- including voting, elections, primaries, campaign finance limits, disclosure and public funding, districting, and more! We're hoping to make these gatherings social, and support time for learning together, exploring values and organizational priorities, and enjoying unstructured time together.
Focus for December Gathering: Oregon Campaign Finance Reform, Moving Forward from Common Ground
As we look ahead to 2024, advocates have launched more than one ballot measure proposal to change how elections are funded in Oregon. Without a doubt, there are important differences between these proposals, but there's also so much common ground. And that's where we're starting for our next Democracy Happy Hour.
This conversation will focus on how we can begin to envision organizing, movement building, and Oregon elections in a new context. We'll learn from organizers in other states where similar limits are in play, and discuss what it all might mean for Oregon democracy and organizing.
Event Speakers:
Dionne Foster, Executive Director of Progress Alliance of Washington
Nicole Hensel, Executive Director of New Era Colorado
Rebekah Stewart, city councilwoman in Lakewood Colorado, candidate for the Colorado legislature, and former managing director of the Colorado Civic Engagement Roundtable
Aly Ferrufino-Coqueugniot, Political Director at Conservation Colorado
